Tapas Sunday at Boqueria

At Boqueria

Had a great time catching up with classmates over dinner at Boqueria in SoHo last night.  It is always a pleasure to see old faces and to find out what they’ve been up to.  I get inspired by other people’s personal journeys and achievements.  I like hearing about the dating scene from the single girls and  wedding plans from the engaged ones.  It always gives me a sense of wonder to meet people at different stages in their lives and to see how much or how little they’ve changed and what they have been through in the space of time we haven’t been in touch.

The night was made better by the excellent food at Boqueria.  We ordered a platter of cheese (Aged Mahon, Aged Manchego from La Mancha, La Serena) and 36 months-aged Jamon Iberico Fermin to go with our rose sangria.  We also ordered Datiles con Beicon (bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with almonds and valdeon), Txipirones (baby squid with arugula salad), fried baby eggplant and squash flowers, Pintxos de Pulpo, Paella de Mariscos and ended the meal with Crema Catalana Clasica (some version of creme brulee) and amazingly good Torrijo y Helado (caramelized spanish toast with yogurt ice-cream).  Salud!
